Hi, I’m Larry Letich. I’m a licensed individual and couples therapist who for more than 30 years has helped people connect with their inner wisdom and resources to live happier and more fulfilling lives.
I’ve worked with countless men and women like you facing crises in their relationships or their careers. I love helping people overcome the pain, distress, confusion, anxiety, anger or grief that has overtaken their life, re-connect with themselves and the people who matter to them, and learn how to live from their own inner direction. I love helping couples re-connect to each other and begin to love and understand each other better than ever. And I love helping good men align with the power, strength and goodness that lives inside them, and make sense of themselves, their lives and their relationships.
For couples, I offer Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), the one form of couples therapy that has been proven to be effective in healing and restoring relationships in distress. I am a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFT), one of about two dozen in the Maryland-DC-Virginia area.
I also specialize in the treatment of Adult ADHD, especially what I call “Hidden” ADHD — the people whose ADHD was not so extreme or “hyper” when they were children as to be diagnosed or truly treated, but who nevertheless have been struggling to cope with its symptoms their entire lives.
Hidden ADHD often causes major problems in their relationships — problems that are hard to solve unless you understand the subtle ways adult ADHD affects people, and the common ways this causes distress in their partners. So I am especially passionate about offering EFT couples therapy to couples affected by adult ADHD.
I am also a certified Focusing-Oriented therapist (FOT). FOT was truly one of the first therapies to bring the body and the mind together. While not all of my individual work is Focusing-oriented, FOT brings a depth to all of the individual therapy that I do. It means that I am always seeking to help you “get below the surface” to what’s really going on inside you — and helping you to become aware of it yourself. I am a co-founder of the Greater Washington Center for Focusing and Focusing-Oriented Therapy, offering workshops and individualized training in Focusing-Oriented Therapy (FOT) for mental health professionals and Focusing for both laypeople and professionals.
Writing is another passion of mine. With Frederick psychologist Helene Brenner, Ph.D., I co-authored I Know I’m in There Somewhere: A Woman’s Guide to Finding Her Inner Voice and Living a Life of Authenticity, published in 2003 by Gotham Books, a division of Penguin (USA).
Helene Brenner also happens to be my partner in life and practically everything I do. It’s been more than 40 years and two daughters together, and yet it’s still new.
